Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DOES THIS MAGIC WORK?
By hydro-cellular action.
In simple terms - the formulation "LUBRICATES & LIFTS" the debris off surfaces, almost like making it float.
This is the effect of Magic - Working on surface tensions, it wets & envelops dirt into damp floating encapsulated blobs, placing them microscopically off the surfaces. The blob becomes fully lubricated. Now it needs to be sucked up. So, a chamois merely sucks it up, and a chamois is wholly soft and pliable to stay close to the surface. Towelling without artificial fibres is also great for larger molecules on wheels and heavier dirt along the bottom chassis line of cars. Chamois that are dedicated to be only used with magic, retains magic lubricants in it’s fibres. This way it always stays lubricated.
When the debris meets a clean, damp (very well wrung) quality chamois, it gets attracted into it. It is this reason that it seems so simple to "wipe off", and it is also for this reason that the chamois needs to be regularly rinsed in a bucket of water to clear its "pores" again. A clean chamois is ready to attract more debris again. Because the chamois will retain a certain amount of "Style Magic" in its fibres even when rinsed, it is always ready to work. (Do not use a wet chamois as that dilutes the formulation and therefore, the effect of "Style Magic" - likewise, let a wet, rained on car dry before using "Style Magic".
This is the reason that no scratches can be found by all those who have experienced this great product (even with a magnifying glass). Not to forget that the product has been used since 1998 by a select few (2 Ferrari amongst them) before product launch in 2003 and their cars will have drier less "cancerous" internals and externals than yours.
Insects on side mirrors, windscreen and bonnet fronts - spray area, then run your palm over these areas - where lumps are felt, use thumb to help displace from surfaces. When smooth, wipe with damp chamois or dry towel. Presto ! - all clean.
The best "general" chamois to use for cars and household, glass, etc are synthetic ones that costs over $28.00 - the type with a multitude of tiny holes in them (IEnka sewn) - to absorb all molecules. Please invest in one of that quality. There is no need to use leathers - their upkeep is fussy for most of us. Some people like to spread it out, some use it folded like a pad, but more normally, bunched up loosely in their hands.
Users are also experiencing the almost unbelievable ease carbonated brake dust just flows off their alloy or steel wheels the moment "style magic" is sprayed on them. It easily wipes off all that black stuff with just a dry towelling material ( for the wheels only ), leaving a nice sheen. The only other time you can see this is when an off the shelf acid based product is used. Guess what happens to your alloys in the longer term. Torrid is all I have to say.
Dry towelling with its thicker strands permits a lot more absorbtion of the larger molecules of brake dust. Soiled towelling can be reused after washing. If a chamois is used, reserve it just for the alloys.
pH neutral = No reaction to waxes & polishes
Anti Static, Anti Dust
Glides on = No scratches, non-allergenic, non-poisonous
How do I clean my dash and cabin linings?
Shut the doors, hold spray bottle near your chest and spray a fine mist forward from your chest. Wipe over with damp chamois. Small sparse droplets over the dash are sufficient. Optionally, you can now treat the cleaned surface with a non sticky vinyl treatment like ours. Unlike other cleaners, there are no poisons to breathe in. If caught short in a desert, it is safer to drink it for your survival, than the traditional radiator water !
How do I clean my leather seats?
Brush out large chunks of dirt with dedicated paint brush with bristles cut short. These are found in the creases and cushion folds. Ultra Fine mist technique works. Note very quick evaporative characteristic of magic. This way the leathers stay dry. Connolly, nappa, and specially supple leathers need just a fine spray from a distance, and they really do exceptionally well with Magic. Optionally, you can now treat your seats with essential oils. We have a special two pack procedure.
How do I clean car mirrors?
Spray small amount of Style Magic on the chamois, then wipe over inside and outside mirrors with chamois, or better still, toweling.
Why do you recommend a chamois?
Style Magic was deigned to work with a chamois. It sucks liquids up best, just because it has great absorbing properties. The softer the better. The more dimples & holes the better, and finally the more expensive ones are better. It is cheaper than microfibers and re-usable. There is absolutely no need for microfibers, as those can sometimes leave smears. They are not absorbent enough.
The best chamois costs over au$27.
We sell the same at $15. They are dimpled and have lots of tiny holes. They are EInka woven & filled. It is really soft and ultra pliable, unlike cheap ones. Can be used Outside and inside of cars. Also create great results on indoor furniture, car models etc. Keep rinsing and its ready for use again. the chamois can last for 10 years.
What happens to little droplets I miss wiping off?
Forget them: they dry to nothing within a minute or two. It is extremely evident that the Style Magic wash evaporates fairly rapidly, and time & time again there is absolutely no water marks left behind, even with slightly damp spots.
Does it contain alcohol of some description?
None at all. It really does not leave any water ‘residue’ at all. Very evident on your glass windows. If there is residue, its because you have not rinsed and wrung dry your chamois enough
What does "spot cleaning technique" mean?
All cars do not get dirty uniformly. Wipe off areas that require it most. Windows, after a few hand smudges are seen, every 9 days - about 2 mins. Boot areas get most of the dirt generally, so wipe down those areas every 5 days. Alloy wheels need attention every 3 days of 30 secs per wheel. Windscreens, the next day after a night drive - 3 mins. After wet driving, the sides around the wheel arches require about 6 mins attention. This pick an area to clean for 2 mins format ensures an overall clean look everyday of the year. How do I do this easily? Always carry both the Spray bottle of Magic and the damp chamois in a lidded plastic container or plastic bag, in the car boot. Now you can grab any 3 minutes that might present itself. Like waiting for someone to turn up, during a tea break etc; you’ll work it out. Just remember to rinse the chamois the moment you get to a tap. Do not get carried away without rinsing often.
What is the best way to clean off dead insects?
After spraying each of the 3 areas that get the most insects - windscreen, wing mirrors, front of bonnets, run the palm of ones hand over these areas in wiping strokes, and/or rub with a small piece of regular sponge. This loosens dried on insects, and the solution starts to dissolve the goo. Keep wiping with your hands until it feels smooth. Wipe off with dry towelling, and it is all gone. It really helps if the windscreen washer reservoir is filled with neat Magic Wash, and applied immediately after an evening drive all insects in the way of the wiper sweep READILY disappear TOTALLY. However, Magic in the reservoir has to be Undiluted.. I learnt of this extra capability of Magic from my clients ! pouring neat into washer reservoir
How large an area can I clean before I have to rinse the chamois?
For dusty car, about 1 sq metre. For very dirty car, about 0.5 sq metre. For mud streaks, about 0.3 sq metre. Damp chamois has to be well wrung, as magic must not be diluted.
Can i wax my car immediately after using Magic Wash?
Yes, the surface is supremely clean for waxing. remember that StyleMagic is pH nuetral, so applied wax is not washed off, and will last longer.
You can choose small areas at a time. You will find it easier to apply and a better shine to your Canaubra wax. These are priced from $50 to $650 a can. Choose the best you can afford. Wax allows the paints to breathe, unlike petroleum sealants, polishes, silicone, etc.
15 mins is enough to PROPERLY wash your car?
YES, with our Style Magic Car wash. It will feel & look as though it took over an hour with gallons of water ! The ingredients ensure no water marks - The wax is not scratched or removed (unlike other waterless washes) - The windows and all light fittings are super clear - now, enjoy your clean car.
For the very best results, after "washes", sparingly apply a very light coat of Car Wax in just one or two chosen areas. Revolve the areas that are to be lightly waxed & buffed; whereby the whole car gets waxed after the fourth or fifth wash. Repeat this procedure in the leisurely manner as advised and you will get a misplaced reputation as one who spends all their waking time polishing your perpetually shining car.
Keep in a car boot a Spray bottle and lidded plastic container to carry an ever damp chamois & a Small piece of dry toweling.
Spare 5 minutes, just spray and wipe the alloy wheels with dry toweling. During another day’s smoko or spare 5 minutes, just spray and wipe just the windows, rinse the chamois.
Another day’s spare 5 minutes, just spray and wipe, just the boot area, rinse the chamois.
Optionally, every so often, wax a small Magic wiped area, revolving areas in turn. Presto - no sweat, car is fully waxed in no time. Repeat waxing when you feel like it.
Can I tip the rinsing water onto my flower bed?
Yes, it is instantly biodegradable. There are no petroleum products. It's safe for the plants.
Should I wash my chamois with a detergent?
Don't, a certain amount of "Magic" in the chamois is ideal. Rinsing well is all that is needed, overnight soaking it in a little Magic Wash is better.
What are the long term effects?
In 5 years of use, we have found that the car wax applications lasts a lot longer, due to it’s all important PH Neutrality. Leathers and vinyl treatments stay intact. Just drier, less ‘cancerous’ cars, all round. Unlike many car washing ‘lubricants’ Magic does not strip wax. This is why many “car washes” add liquid wax. These minute amounts do not last more than a few days. Liquid wax does not stick. “Of course, in the long term you save all that water and labour amounting to quite a substantial, ‘notional’ , if not hard cash, return on a very small investment.
